Some how I doubt the range is not affected.....I would have to range check one of mine, then do this and range check it again and then I'd only believe it for that radio type (mine are mostly FM). Also suspect that there's a diff in whether this is AM, FM or 2.4 radios too. There are some 2.4 antennas that warn you to avoid any bending at all and this is the part at the end where he would have you coiling it.
