Just realised that the manual states this in spare parts for diff: 91008 - 4x4 Gear Diff Kit. Guess that means different diffs. Still interested if anyone knows this for sure though.
The big difference is the main diff gear itself, the 4x4 uses 32p, while the 2wd used 48p.
