So, at the end of last season, I had flame-out issues with one of my engines, so myself and a buddy (who is very experienced, and is a team driver) decided to seal up the engines *just to be sure* there were no air leaks.
We cleaned and sealed up the carbs - that went fine. However, when we went to install new seals on the needles, we had a heck of a time getting the o-rings onto the needles. We were able to do the low-speed and idle screw, but there was just no way we were going to get the seals onto the HSN - we ended up breaking the remaining rings...
I ended up purchasing a couple of new high-speed needles (and more o-rings) from A-Main, since they come with the o-rings installed....
So, I've got two HSN's without o-rings, and a few new packages of o-rings to try this again. Any tips on trying to get the o-rings onto the HSN?
We tried the following:
- lubrication
- using a wet-dry paper to smooth the screw head so there were no sharp points (we didn't want to install the o-ring via the needle-end, since the threads may damage the o-ring).
- heating the o-rings
- pre-stretching the o-rings
- sacrificing chickens
None of the above worked, so I'm open to any other suggestions.
