With small amounts of esc timing, 10/10, all the way to 40/40. With the 72/31 gearing in blinky mode, it was the fastest, but that was also with the endbell timing all the way up. With that gearing the motor came off the track at 130* after 3 minutes, but the air temp was only 60*. But you are saying I need to go lower than 78/21 with timing, even though the car was topped out after about 25-30 feet?
The notes I have for VST 17.5 boosted/VTX esc is 26/81-84 in a SC10. I doubt you'll want to go lower than 21/78, that's likely much too low. I would try starting with preset profile #4, perhaps increasing the max adv top speed timing to 30* from 20*, gearing 26/81 (or 25/78 if you don't want to chance spurs), and 30* default motor timing.

How large and open of a track are you running on again? High speed, open, flowing tracks definitely require a different gearing/timing setup than tight, punchy tracks (which is more what my starting recommendation there is oriented for, so if you're running on a large high speed track you may want to gear up 1-2t).

Some people have had good results with boosted VST/VTX combos turning the motor timing down to 15-20* and increasing the max adv esc settings 10-15* to compensate. This may be something to try as well.
