Smoothness is always part of the "ESC war".
Some of the ESCs out there today, are very easy to setup. The new LRP is just 1 setting you need to adjust, to adjust the timing. Tekin is getting there, with the built in profiles.

It is not hard anymore, and if we give it some time, it will be even easier. I must admit that the racing today (with boost) is quite equal. The fast guys is still fast.

BUT... I can also see a place for no-boost. But only in classes where it is not only about who wins, but also about the fun and enjoyment. Because if it is "only" about the race and who wins, people will start investing in motors, batteries etc, to gain an advantage.
