In UK Tamiya minis at my local clubs (Kent) is taking off.
At the moment we run any sealed brushed motor no less than 20T.
Some of our clubs are looking at allowing Hobbywing 35A, 13T motor system to run with above brush motors.
Most of our clubs run on carpet.
What are your views on Hobbywing 35a 13T system, I know some of you run Tamiya black can sport-tuned motors with Hobbywing in same race meets.
Do you find Tamiya black can motors slower??
We find the Tamiya black can motor is slower compared to Ansmann 21T, HPI Saturn 20T motors we use now.
Really hoping that Hobbywing system will not be any faster.
After talking to a lot of UK racers thinking of racing Minis, the main thing that’s putting some off is going back to brush motors.
If brushless was allowed, I think it would make minis even more popular in UK.

It will be interesting to see what you come up with.
Round here we are using the 20T Saturn motor with great success. We allow open gearing and tyres.
But there will be people that want a brushless alternative. Personally I am a little wary of the 13T EZRun route due to it's sensorless design, I would prefer to see the class go in the direction of a zero-timed sensored 17.5, either blinky spec or one of the all-in-one motor/esc packages from Novak, Speed Passion or Hobbywing.
Unfortunately you are never going to get true equivalency of performance, but if we can find a motor rule that is the appropriate speed for the mini, and not a dead end in terms of transfer to another RC class, that can only be a good thing.
