Do you retune to the cooler plug (richen top and reset bottom then fine tune top) ??
a cooler plug should last longer as the element is thicker and should give it more torque, a hot plug seems snappy down low as it advances the timing, idles strong even if bottom is a little rich, but lacks torque.
I hope I make sence, I know what I'm trying to describe, not know if it's translating correctly to how I mean!
Difference between being snappy and being torque.
My old 5 port, I'v even gone down to a P7 on 25% in a pinch, it ran great on track, the only problem was a tempermental/unreliable idle when stopped for too long like durring fuel stops etc
So honestly without being there I'm not sure if it's ya tuning or has to do with where ya live bud.....

yes it made sense. And I did need to readjust settings. I want to do the pinch method that Grizz has on his website. But the engine still needs to be heated before it will turn over. I think that since I changed the plug I will keep running until the new carb arrives then set the final tune for it. I just noticed it wanted to run higher rpm with the colder plug. So I drove 2 tanks through it and on the 3rd tank moved needles. Now it's back to running like I had the hotter plug in it. It was a little harder to dial in,but I need the experience.
