if you have no shims behind the thrust bearing, (ie closest to the hex screw head) and it is still tightening up to the point that the bell doesn't spin it means that the flywheel collet is not going far enough into the flywheel. use another flywheel collet that is worn down a little and see if the flywheel is pushed in towards the engine more. IS THERE A LARGE GAP BETWEEN THE MOTOR AND FLYWHEEL??
