Race control's idea to spray tires with alky sounds funny but it made all kinds of sense to me when I heard about it. FTR, I have NEVER been impressed with Enetti gluing technique and they have been splitting at the seams for over a decade. I wouldn't point the finger at IFMAR for creating this problem.
We all agree that traction compound is only good for a few laps at best and many ask why bother. Seems simple but the reality is if you are lined up in a qualifier say mid-pack, and can get that advantage to charge to the front that much quicker... open track in a qualifier is golden!! I would totally shoot for this myself or my driver if wrenching.
Really? I don't particularly care if the track goes to crap, because then it's the same crappy track for everyone there. It's the Worlds for chrissake. I say you spec the cars' dimensions, and maximum displacement of the engines, then let God sort it out.
This is not a race for the spec classes, or the faint of heart.
