The issue is that the front suspension looks horrible sticking out of the car. Pan car wheels are also terribly out of scale.
It's not that hard to use the F1 sized rims. In fact, you could run a 1/10 WGT car with f1 wheels if you used the HPI rear axle. A TRG style front end actually looks decent because the links run to the body, vs having the mounts sticking out of the car, along with the rest of the suspension parts. They make an attempt to keep it scale.
If they anodized the turnbuckles black, it would be even less noticeable.
