Is there enough clearance with the spur gear if i take out the riser ? What do you mean about the screws being flat heads? The screws that are provided just need to be shortened by the thickness of the riser don't they?

The screws that you get with the mount are for the motor plate. The screws you need to buy need to be shorter, yes. And flat head doesn't mean like a flat tip screw driver. I mean the actual head of the screw flat. But that's a given.
