Just for the record. They higher the C rating you charge your lipos at, decreases the overall life of the cell. Just because you can charge at a higher amperage doesn't mean you should.
Can someone post any facts on this still being true? I can't find anything. On the other hand I see manufacturers specifically saying they can be charged up to 5C. And I see many posts similar to the above, but little to back it up.
This is new tech and is changing fast. Perhaps by just getting in to LiPo I have no baggage from early adopters, but the facts that over 1C charging will shorten their life span (at least to a significant degree) are slim to come by. Or is a loss of a few % of cycles, if any, a big deal to some? Is it due to fire hazards? I can't see manufacturers promoting a practice that would cause death to their users... well maybe a little bit.
Of course I am still learning a lot, and I don't want to 'fight it out', but the scientist in me wants to see some proof on this, otherwise I will remain skeptical. Maybe another statement that gets credence by sheer repetition. Just like 'warming up your (full sized) car in cold weather' is a hold over from carburetor days, yet I still see it mentioned like it was gospel for modern fuel injected cars.
