At one point I weighed both the aluminum and carbon fiber towers and the aluminum ones were significantly heavier (sorry I didnt think to write down the actual weights). The aluminum are also stronger.

right now I have aluminum on the front and cf on the back. Sounds like I'm on the right track. I want to lighten up as much as possible without compromising strength... balance (barance =-)) thanks so much for your replies!
