Is the stripping problem with 48p or 64p?
With 17.5, I noticed that my layshaft deflects quite a bit under accelleration, on the bench at least. But I've never had any stripping problems. I've always run 48p, never tried 64p.
You could always try the 2-sided layshaft from the Mi4.
