Yes they do, but if aligned in a good straight line (very important) with your throttle servo, I don't see any possibility to give problems. Mind you, composite carbs. have the benefit that your are actually able to start your engine when hot (after a flame-out) an engine with an Alu. carb. is crap to start.

Also your experience with an RB engine, you can not reflect on Picco....
