yeah, its always going to be a bit risky taking apart any electronics that weren't meant to be opened by the consumer

They would rather you ship it back to them and pay them money to fix it!!

But, as long as you are careful it should be okay. I suggest cutting along the edges first with a hobby knife or something similar just to weaken the bond a little before trying to open it!
What I always do is just double-sided tape it with some strong tape and then try to pick it straight up from the tape. Always breaks the case open for me

Just be careful no matter which way you do it.
