There is only one spacer on the LP, and that sits in the Spur Gear side which ever way you have it around.
I found using the option 1 set up that the spur had movement causing it to strip under load and make a noise. Moving the bolt to the other side removed that play and the noise.
Just looked up the CX manual online and the layshaft set ups are the same, spacer in the spur gear side.
you are correct, I built the lp with option 2 and the cx with option 1 thats why i found a difference. my mistake.
