Of course, my receiver is connected to & powered by LIPO directly (not as you expected powered by ESC). And the voltage display on TX is LIPO's battery, not BEC of ESC !!
I connect the BEC power to my servo.
This is the same concept of 1cell 1/12 car using extra pack of battery for receiver & servo.

For the hobby shop & RC manufacturers, it is ture for them to told the customer to buy additional components...But if my receiver (SR3300T) already have such abilitiy, why i need to pay. Also, the additional components cost me a lot, in items of money, space/weight in my RC car.....
