He's Right....I used to do the same thing back in the day with my old RC10 (old old RC10)
Boiling the Nylon A-arms helped a bit since the Nylon was always a bit on the soft side. Nowadays the cars have ABS plastic, past on a Urathane component that is heat resiliant....it wont help much if at all. Might even break up the bonds of some of the chemicals in the rims and weaken them.
