I was in the same situation - my last setup was with a Futaba 3PDF. With the brushless setup I had in my car, the 3PDF was glitching heavily. I replaced the 3PDF with a Futaba 3PL. I had an e-coupon for $20 which brought the cost down under $100 (your posted target price). My bro-in-law has an Airtronic MX-Sport - which is currently cheaper than the 3PL @ $89.
Both radios work well, have good range and for the most part have not shown any glitches or range issues with brushless setups. Also - both radios have multi-model capability if you want to run both your cars with separate receivers. The binding process for both radios is also very user-friendly.
