I have been into r/c racing for a while, and if you really want speed, go 10 to 12 cells and a Aveox brushless motor system.
They used to have insane speed runs where they either blew capped tires, melted differentials or just smacked the walls at over 100 mph. I know one guy who ran I think 98 (or was it 89) mph. Not Kph, but MPH. There was another who hit the 110 mark but couldn't complete the lap cause he bit the wall......badly. These cars was rwd systems running the Velodrome, I don't know if they still do today. I haven't heard of anyone installing a Aveox brushless system in a 4wd car, but when they do, they will be the fastest.
