On my 10 scale, I put the first piece of tape on, then the batteries, then 2 short pieces, one on back then one on front. Makes it much easier to handle the tape. No I do not go over the brace. Double tape in the front is most important.

When I put the second piece on I can pull real tight.

Yeah, Tape is the pitts, but it is also the best way.

CK uses an O ring, but they can be jarred out of place in a bad crash,
