That's what I did, after giving up on the Tamiya aluminum diff outdrives. I was running ceramic balls, and after every run, I had to rebuild my diff! After 2 rebuilds in 2 days, I said screw it and got a gear diff. Should have done it sooner - my runs were more consistent and trouble free. If I had the gear diff early on, probably would have qualified better
