Exactly... I didn't say backing plate.. I did not know what to call it so I said "backer". Maybe I should have said gear mount.

Anyways, it seems that shaft cars designed with the "gear mount" infront of the gear instead of behind it tend to have problems. Then they try to correct this by offering a "backing plate" to offer some support to the diff gear. Which sometimes helps. But it's just not the same. blah blah blah. That's one reason why I usually ran a diff up front on the Evo3. With a diff up front, the diff gear is support on both sides. So you don't have to worry about the gear warping. Thus you don't have a problem stripping out gears.
Anyways, if I do get an Evo4... I'll wait for SpeedtechRC to get them in. I think I'm done trying to be the "first" to get the car in the states. You'll save hundreds just switching over! (geico hehe).
