I was the same exact way. It is overwhelming learning all this new knowledge! I read the manuel and did some research online and now I feel pretty confident. Sure, if you don't want to do any custom settings. If the default settings work for you, then you probably won't need it. It's only $30, so it's not expensive or anything. I'm glad I have mine.
