actually I should have said that the tensioner should be close to the drive pulley not the smaller one. since in most cases the drive pulley is usually the smaller of the two. The reason for this is to maximize tooth engagement rather than adding tension per-sea. With such a long belt, putting the roller may not be as effective in the middle because the has the more deflection vs near a pulley. It is however true that the drag would be less near the middle of the belt.
