New motor time
Hey all. I'm a budget racer in AZ, trying to compete with some amazing open-class drivers at The Nitro Pit. I still run my BCE X2CRT with a 2year old GO 5port, and I don't normally give up anything between turns. It finally let the smoke out after about 7+ gallons and some bad tuning over that time, may she rest in peices.... The bottom loop of the connecting rod let go and showered the innards with sparkles, so I could have probably prevented it if I knew what I was doing when it comes to maintenance on nitro motors. Since the initial break-in rod and pin change it has remained sealed.
Sooo... I see some good pricing at NitroNorth for the now old GX5R. I want to know how the tuning profile compares to the old long-needle 5port motors of yore, and can I expect the same strong low-end to get the Jammin moving? Or does it look like enough of a change has occurred to wait for the GX2's? Dynamite 086HS pipe ok?
Also, is there a link you can post for break-in? Still use the heat-cycle method and 2 gallons before fully loosened up? This will be Go #3 for me, my first was stolen, still running strong at 5gallons, bought when Russell did the US imports.
