5s and 6s are much better on the ESCs and batteries though.
Regarding the batteries, I would've agreed with you about a year ago, but with the batteries coming out now, I still don't think there is much difference. You can get away with a lower "C" rating on a 6s system, but why mess around. The nano-tech batteries from Turnigy have impressed me, especially the 5c charge rating. Just make sure to get at least a 35-70c rating.
