And im not saying that i am at all interested in this idea at the moment,, just putting out the info.

You pretty much covered it Steve. The the spec equipment would be the best compromise of cost, wear, reliabilty, and performance.

Racers that like to buy the latest and greatest new stuff would be dissapointed, and sponsorship wouldn't have much value.

Well I guess this will be a dead issue. There is no way were going to get 5-10 guys to commit to buying all new gear and then ACTUALLY sticking with it.
