If your car is an SD, it will have 4 CVD (constant velocity) driveshafts - one in each corner. Unless you've taken them off in favour of old-style universal joints!
Johnbulls idea is basically a way of making a boot cover for the CVD joint in order to prevent premature wear - especially on the lighter alloy items.
