gday simon...the meakin surface is high quality clay that comes straight from austral bricks and is what is used in some pavers etc,so its a very clean smooth surface, because it such a fresh layout the surface is very well rolled and hard,so when dry,it dusts up a bit and becomes alittle skaty,it is generally quite tyre friendly, hopefully during the states the boys will have the hoses going between every few runs..when damp the track has good grip, and should groove up well..
The facilities are very top notch..there are concreted under cover pit areas provided with lights and power and benches,i think they will be a tight squeeze during the states but id imagine the boys will have a large marque as well to accomadate the travelling guys like yaself..under cover drivers stand..with timing screens at both ends, concreted pits etc..various acomadation within 10 or so kms of the track..If you pm"keenas" or "g&k racing" they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction with acomadation as im not a local haha..i think there might be some pics on the club website...hope this helps hope yourself and many more guys travel to the event it should be a cracker!!!

cheers
