Dirt isn't a problem since beadlocks allow you to remove the tire and wash the foams. It's the glued on ones where you can't clean them so the wheel vents help the dirt and water get out when the wheel spins. Rim vents can't do that all the dirt and water stays inside.
The tire wads up and catches a corner of a rock or part of the link by the wheel. That's what happened to me anyway.
