Greg, thanks for the info; didn't realize the car was someone else's. His solution is no surprise... my next step was to do just that. I'm gonna try some 1:1 wheel cleaner I have that's slightly acidic for unfinished/unpainted wheels. If that doesn't work I'll try Greased Lightning. Thanks again!
