Yes if the bearing fell apart then it's possible it seized before breaking apart. The TiN coating is around 12 microns on surface and 24 microns total because the shaft is cylindrical. 24 Microns is around 0.001" which is giving you that slop between the bearing and crankshaft, if you have the down time send me the crank, I will check it and see what I can do to help.
