Actually the kit screws are not bad at all. I too had the same problem when I was putting my 414M together and also dealing with those type of screws for the first time. The mistake I did, I was tighthening the screws way too much that it was impossible to loosen them up with the wrench that came with kit and ending up stripping the heads .
This time I just give a nodge to tighten them down. No more stripped screws.
