Anyway, there really is no guide but there is a PDF on the traxxas web site on how it goes together. You just have to make sure all your linkages are adjusted the right way and the reverse & forward gear is engaging all the way.
What kind of "crud" was on the inside? Was it gear powder?
Honestly man, once you've owned a chinese buggy, a pile of dog poop is high quality.
But I bought the Tmaxx second hand, and I tried cleaning it, some dirt owuldn't come off. I used every chemical you could think of + a tooth brush, was seriously hard. He had left the gearbox rubber flap open and some got in. I got a tooth pick and fixed it up. Pain to reassemble though.
