The above recomendations are good. Aircleaner(canned or air compressor, simplegreen(I use Amazing a safe on all surface cleaner), old tooth brush, Q tips, motor/electric cleaner is good stuff as well. But you'll need bearing oil to hit bearing after motor spray. I found rubbing alc. works great to. If you have to use water then go over all your screw heads and metal parts to keep them from rusting. WD40 works well, but dust and dirt tends to cling and collect where you spray it. So I use rubbing alc. instead of oil.
