The battery slid forward in my mini-ste and when i pulled it out the blue plastic was crinkled at the end. I cut the plactic back to make sure the cells were ok and they were fine. There was a little piece of foam that just compressed and that allowed the heatshrink to crinkle. I wrapped that end with black tape and ran it that way until i sold the truck. All that to say that yes there is black tape on the battery but its in perfect condition. I can unwrap and snap pics if you want.
