Front plate back plate?? WTF?? I just thought you were kinda confusing, especially to a begineer. I see so called backing plates used on all type of engines and they are not facing the back of the engine, but.. still called backing plates. Call it what ever you want, most people consider the flywheel end of an engine as usually the rear of an engine.
