I always set the car down about an inch from the inside pipe and settle it in. Then do a roll with the wheel cranked away from the pipe of course. When the car gets to the peak of it's arch(180 degrees), turn it around and turn the opposite direction, it should end up an inch from the pipe.

But go slow.

Once this is set use the dual rate to "dial in" the steering feel you want. This is very different from driver to driver, since some use very little brakes, some clamp them on very often.
