Batteries with higher mAh & C rating is like having high grade fuel but you will need a good engine (ESC & Motor) to maximize its potentials.

For most stock ESC & motor (mostly brushless type) Nimh batt should be good enough. High mAh will give you longer run time.

Most upgrades are brushless system, high mAh & C batt will be needed to maximize the brushless power (high speed).

There are lots of Lipo batt in the market now, depending on your budget & application (bash or race) you will then decide which grade of lipo is more suitable.
