I have followed this product since it was first shown on Max Bashing. I am always interested in new products. So I followed it. When the unit first came out, some were having bulbs blow, and some are still if they get grease / oil etc on the bulb. Which is to be expected with this type of bulb. BEFORE THE FORUM WAS CLEANED UP, there were several racers that complained about the bulb blowing and some that had over heated their motors (over 300 deg.)

This is what I read on the forum. There is still some talk about the bulbs and the temps. So what have I said that is not true? Where have I lied? The new "Deluxe" aparently has a temp sensor to avoid this, but it appears the base model that does not have the sensor / regulator whatever will still "overheat".

I do not want to see racers torch a motor or have glass dumped on their car from some of these issues. When LampChops stated on page one "If you look at the testimonials on my website you can see some of the feedback I have had on how the device works and people have been extremely impressed with its performance. And despite selling around 100 units no one has ever purchased a replacement bulb due to failure" That is just no true.

The product may work great, but you should be honest, everyone understands some products go through changes and developement, but do not make claims that are false. I just want those who are buying or have bought this unit to be careful, I would think the manufacturer would be worried as well? I did not post this to start a war, but you guys started PMing me, so lets let it out in the open, not in PM's

Do you really want me to post more facts and emails from one of your customers?
Hi Speedski,

I hope no one has sent you nasty Pm's I have asked where you have seen my products that was all, I certainly don’t want to get in to a forum battle on here your post has already done damage to this thread for no good reason.

The standard Sure-Start doesn’t have a thermal cutoff this is true and in the provided instructions its states it must not be left unattended as yes if left for 20 - 30 minutes its possible it could over heat an engine and cause damage. This is a heating device not a toy and must be treated with some respect, you wouldn’t put a heat gun on your engine and walk away would you?

As for bulbs blowing yes in the early days there were 2 - 3 failures no more and I sent out free replacements, I standby what I said no one has ever PURCHASED a new replacement bulb.

I have never had any emails sent to me regarding issues with overheating and damaged customer engines, so I can say hand on heart post what you have as it was never brought to my attention and if there was an issue I am concerned and what to know about it.

The only possible thing I can think your referring too was in the very first batch of units sent out where a customer tested the sure-start and left it turned on for 20 – 30 mins on the high setting on purpose to see what would happen on an old engine.. There was an issue here with the internal bulb retainer melting a little, this was addressed with a change to bulb retaining method and there has been no further reported problems.
