Thats a big gearing change - 78/21 is 3.714 and 90/14 is 6.429, even the 90/16 is still 5.625. May want to try upping pinion a little more.


Switching to lipo isn't going to make the esc run any hotter unless the batt you're using now isn't able to supply enough current for your setup.
