In order to take the diff out you need to open 5 screws and pop the shocks bottoms off. Pretty easy IMO
Drilling a hole through a spur gear is a nice was to get it "unbalanced".

Also, from the pic below, it looks like you only need to remove 4 screws to get to the diff and there should be enough clearance so that the shock bottoms don't need to get removed, no?
