One other point is that 4 pitch gears have a bigger selection og gear choices compared to the 48 pitch. The more teeth the more subtle the gear changes you can make. If your a serious racer at all dont waste the money buying 48 pitch gears. Youll switch to 64 eventually so buy gears you will use for a long time. Now if your running offroad then 48 is alot more durable and able to withstand all the abuse moreso than the 64 pitch.
