The 7 minutes qualification excists for just 2 years, in that time the cars and tracks did not change. Most drivers were going for the 5 minutes without fuelstop before that time because a fuelstop was killing for reaching the pole but now I see engines realy last at its maximum 4 minutes on a tank.
Of course, they don't have to conserve anymore. Pull the restrictors out, tune the clutch for kill and pull the trigger.
The last time I ran at 301 I was making 5 min in qualifying. For the main I was only going about 4:15 because I had reset it for more power instead of mileage and was standing on the gas.
