I have built quite a few different manufacturers kits and I think the only time they become difficult is if the instruction manual is a bit dodgy - if there are unusual set ups or configurations then as long as the instructions are clear then there shouldn't be an issue - in fact, sometimes those things are easier for someone newer to building as they will follow a good manual step by step whereas I may be guilty of looking at something and thinking I can just work it out without referring to the manual - those are often the times when ''an instruction manual is just the manufacturer's opinion on how to do it'' attitude ends up making me look like a tool!
