Unless you are a big name fast guy....or a fast guy that finishes right behind the big name fast guys....it won't give you the magical 6 seconds a lap boost you need to run with them. You still need to drive the rig yourself ;-)
Not cracking on the OS Speed one bit though....if I could afford one...or if I was given one to run....I'd run the crap out of it until it won't run no more! lol
Budget racing won't allow me to run a Speed though...so while I have driven a few friends rigs with Speeds in them...I won't be buying one anytime soon. The funny thing is my $200 Alpha is neck and neck with the fastest engines at our local track.....now if I can just get my driving skills up higher...I'll be all set!
I completely understand your point of view. The Speed is far from a budget engine. There are a lot of very impressive engines out there in the $200 range these days. To me it is more of a feel thing. The OS just has "that feel" that fits me and my driving style. My truggy just seems to love the Speed. I'm noticeably faster with the speed in my truggy Vs. other engines. To me that's what justifies the price tag. The insane fuel mileage is a nice bonus too.
