The xray kits run about the same price as the Losi XXXS G+ and the Factory team TC3s. If you are talking about $160, a used kit bought from Ebay is about the only thing that will get you in that ballpark. But usually you still need the radio/electronics. So keep that in mind. The new belt kit for the Losi car is only $20. So it's not much. All it does is make the drive system move with less drag, which will make it accelerate faster and maybe get a little more top speed. If you are not racing the car, it's not something that is an absolute must.
When it comes to Ebay this is what I do. Anything I buy on Ebay I search the person's feedback just to see if they are known for mis-representing things/shadey dealings. I usually don't buy from first time sellers or people who don't post pics. Having pics of the merchandise are highly reccommended. By using those rules, I haven't been burned yet.
