Here is a picture of the top deck I made. It also stiffens up the car alot (my main goal) which helps a bit on carpet.
You shouldn't have that many problems with chassis tweak though. I had the same problem a while back, and it was my servo. You may try borrowing a servo to see if that fixes it.
